Senior management change signifies new era for BSI group of companies
30 April 2008
BSI has announced changes to its senior management team, which marks a new leadership era for Europe's leading specialist accommodation, meetings and event management solutions company.
With effect from 30th April 2008, Charles Cockell will relinquish the role of managing director – a position he has fulfilled since 1995 – and will take on the role of Deputy Chairman. Succeeding him as managing director will be Trevor Elswood, BSI’s Commercial Director, who will take up the post on 1st May 2008.
As a major shareholder, together with the Chairman, Simon Milsted, Charles will remain on the board working on strategic matters and other special projects.
Trevor Elswood joined BSI eight years ago, taking on the role of Commercial Director of the group and becoming a main board member in 2005.
“It is a great privilege to be following Charles into the managing director’s position of such a successful company. He has been the driving force behind BSI’s major repositioning and growth, making the business what it is today. His continued influence and expertise will be of immense value to the board,” explained Trevor. “I am excited by the opportunities that are laid out before BSI. The company has the advantage of great platforms from which we can continue to build on our position as market leader, delivering an uncompromised total accommodation and MICE management solution to corporate and government markets.”
Explaining his decision, Charles said; “After 21 years, 13 of which as Group Managing Director, I have decided to give up this role and hand over the running of the group to Trevor Elswood.
“The last 13 years have been memorable for me. To see BSI grow over the years to where it is today has been an experience I will never forget. The support that I have had from the management and staff has helped me enormously to achieve the goals that I set out some 13 years ago.
“The board’s decision to appoint Trevor as the new Group Managing Director is in recognition of his skills and vision which are acknowledged throughout our industry. BSI therefore remains in safe hands and I wish him every success. As the most respected specialist in our sector, BSI is best placed to represent clients through the changing times ahead. Under Trevor’s leadership I am confident that BSI will continue to do the very best for our clients and achieve even greater success in the future.”
