Singled out as an industry leader in its sector, the panel of judges gave particular recognition for BSI’s strengths in technological developments – particularly on the meetings side of the business - with the successful integration of internal meeting space management into its online technology, BSIDirect™. Once a client’s internal meeting space is loaded, policy rules enable the optimisation of this typically under-used resource prior to sourcing external venues, meaning that clients benefit from both cost avoidance, as well as addressing sustainability and environmental requirements.
BSI has made significant investment in innovation and technology over recent years which have brought a whole host of benefits to its clients, including lower costs and optimisation of compliance.
Just some highlights include the launch of BSI’s supplier extranet, developing technology to support online meetings, utilisation of internal meetings space, and improving online reporting and electronic, pre-trip authorisation. In addition, BSI has also introduced advanced corporate security with the tracking of both bedroom guests and meeting delegates in the event of a global incident and made further enhancements to its online BSIDirect™ booking system.
The company, which employs staff at its offices in Taunton, Cheadle, Nottingham, London and Paris, has also bolstered its team with several high profile appointments in 2009 to ensure high quality in delivery of account management.
Committed to developments in technology and innovation, account management, and supply chain management, BSI’s Managing Director Trevor Elswood commented: “Receiving recognition for all of our hard work in the last year is a great feather in our cap, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our talented and focused business team here at BSI. It is one thing to receive a highly respected award from the Industry and the prestigious line up of judges, but it is the customer business vote that really makes us particularly proud to receive such an accolade.
“We’ve seen unprecedented growth through new sales acquisitions over the past 12 months and have achieved an industry leading customer retention record which reflects the great work the team at BSI delivers to clients. Going forward, we have an ambitious investment programme in technology and service delivery in strategic areas of distribution, hotels and meetings programme management, and continued integrations that will allow clients to gain the benefits of BSI, irrespective of their chosen self booking tool. We also anticipate growth of our European hub based in Paris.
Trevor finished: “This award is a significant win for us as it is a new category which is independently judged by travel managers, industry peers and experts in the sector.”
This year’s line-up of judges included senior buyers being in the majority, together with leading business travel journalists. The re-launched Business Travel Awards has combined Buying Business Travel’s Diamond Awards and the Business Travel World Awards, and saw almost 1,100 people attend the event, with 22 award categories.
