BSI Forms Partnership with Green Tourism Business Scheme
25 May 2011
BSI, the UK’s leading procurement specialist in accommodation, meetings and event management, has formed a new partnership with the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS) eco-label to promote ‘greener’ accommodation and venue options to its booking consultants and customers.
GTBS gradings will soon be featured on the BSI consultants’ booking system and the company’s online booking tool BSIDirect™. BSI is additionally sponsoring a ‘Carbon Reduction Award for a Hotel Chain’ as part of the GTBS’ Green Tourism Week (June 6-12) to mark the new relationship.
Says Andrea Nicholas, managing director of the GTBS, ‘The GTBS is delighted that BSI is taking a leadership role in promoting ‘greener’ accommodation options for business travellers. The prevalence of responsible booking policies within the business travel and meetings market is growing fast and corporate travel procurement specialists typically now insist on a ‘sustainable’ dimension – BSI’s new partnership will help raise awareness of GTBS-accredited properties within this valuable sector.’
Says Trevor Elswood, managing director of BSI, ‘BSI is delighted to be sponsoring the ‘Carbon Reduction for a Hotel Chain’ award. This is the ideal celebration of our new partnership with GTBS and for properties which are members of the scheme, GTBS standards will be made visible to BSI consultants and to customers making bookings via our online booking tool.
‘Many of our customers lead the way in carbon reduction and environmental sustainability and seek robust solutions in the hotel arena. As Green Tourism standards are only achieved following assessment against a rigorous set of criteria, delivering customer visibility of these standards underpins our pledge to deliver environmental care alongside significant cost savings.’
