Major contract wins for BSI
02 September 2009
Specialist accommodation, meetings and event management service provider, BSI has announced two large contract wins with E.on and Cable & Wireless following recent competitive tenders.
BSI will manage E.on’s UK and overseas accommodation and meetings business needs, whilst the company will retain the services of their Travel Management Company (TMC) previously responsible for accommodation bookings, to manage air travel.
In addition following joint pitches with TMC Gray Dawes, BSI will provide a fully integrated worldwide service to Cable & Wireless.
E.on will benefit from the advantages of using BSI as a specialist HBA, including significant and accountable cost savings through specialist negotiation, and expert knowledge of accommodation and meetings in terms of location, facilities and quality standards. BSI also uses multiple distribution channels for sourcing hotels and venues for clients, allowing them to offer a more extensive choice which is mirrored within its online booking tool, BSIDirect™.
Judith Gledhill, UK Travel Manager at E.on, commented: “Following a review of our air and hotel expenditure we found the air spend small by comparison to that of accommodation and therefore, went out to competitive tender. TMCs are often seen as a ‘one-stop-shop’ but E.on recognised the benefits of using a specialist. We were impressed by the sustainable cost reduction and savings that BSI’s service is able to offer, but the ‘can do’ attitude of the people at every level and the transparency and honesty of the company as a whole really made BSI stand out from their peers.”
Cable & Wireless required a single travel solution, both online and offline. As leaders in their fields, HBA BSI and TMC Gray Dawes will manage their new clients’ accommodation and travel via a fully integrated service. BSI works alongside a TMC for every customer in some shape or form but this unique level of integration will deliver improved processes, cost reduction and streamlined management at all levels.
Cable & Wireless acquired Thus Group Plc earlier this year and was introduced to BSI as Thus’ service provider for accommodation and meetings. Alan Knott, Category Manager - Customer & Service Delivery at Cable & Wireless said of BSI’s appointment: “BSI offered a unique proposition with clear, demonstrable benefits for a fully integrated solution both offline and online with TMC Gray Dawes. The ability to drive accommodation policy compliance, better value, process cost efficiencies and sustainable, negotiated cost reduction were unquestionable inducements.”
Commenting on the new contracts, BSI’s Head of Business Development UK, Mark Hulme said: “Whether working alongside a TMC, or fully integrating our services for the benefit of customers, the specialist offerings of BSI deliver results that offer compelling arguments which become impossible to ignore, especially in the current economic climate. We are delighted that companies like E.on and Cable & Wireless and have been able to recognise these advantages and we are now actively working with them to continually deliver the best possible service for their current and future needs.”
